how to use display settings on your smartphone
The Display item in the Settings app deals with touchscreen settings. Two popular items worthy of your attention are the Brightness and Screen Timeout options.
The Display item might be titled Display and Wallpaper on your Samsung phone. It might be found under the Device tab.
Adjusting display brightness :
The phone’s touchscreen can be too bright, too dim, or just right. Which setting is best? That’s up to you. Follow these steps:
1 . Open the Settings app and tap the Display item.
The item might be titled Display and Wallpaper.
2 . Choose Brightness Level.
This item might be titled Brightness, or a slider may be immediately visible.
3 . Adjust the slider to set the touchscreen’s intensity
To have the phone adjust the brightness for you, locate the Adaptive Brightness item and set its master control to the On position. If you don’t see and Adaptive Brightness item, look for an Auto check box.
You might also find a Brightness setting in the phone’s quick settings.
Controlling the screen lock timeout :
Your Android phone automatically locks itself after a given period of inactivity. For example, after 1 minute of your not touching the phone, the screen dims and then the phone locks. Follow these steps to control that duration:
1 . Open the Settings app and choose Display.
2 . Choose the Sleep item.
This item might be titled Screen Timeout.
3 . Set a timeout value from the list.
The standard value is 1 minute.
The screen lock timeout measures inactivity. When you don’t touch the screen or press a key, the timer starts ticking. A few seconds before the time-out value you set (refer to Step 3), the touchscreen dims. Then it locks. If you touch the screen before then, the sleep timer is reset.
Configuring the always – on touchscreen :
Many phones feature an always-on or wake-up display: The touchscreen shows the current time and notifications either constantly on or they appear whenever the phone is moved. This convenience doesn’t affect battery life, but the settings can be disabled, if you prefer. Obey these steps:
1 . In the Settings app, choose Display.
2 . Set the master control by Ambient Display on or off.
The On setting keeps the screen on or wakes it up; the Off option keeps the touchscreen dark while the phone is locked.
On some Samsung phones, choose Display and Wallpaper in Step 1, and then choose Always On Display. Adjust the master control, ad described in Step 2.
