how give connection to a WPS router via your smartphone

Many Wi-Fi routers feature WPS, which stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. It’s a network authorization system that’s really simple and quite secure. If the wireless router features WPS, you can use it to quickly connect your phone to the network.

To make the WPS connection, follow these steps while standing near the Wi-Fi router.

1) Open the Settings app and choose Wi-Fi.

2) If you can’t find the WPS option or icon on the screen, tap the Action Overflow icon and choose Advanced. On Samsung phones, tap MORE.

Two WPS options are available, depending on how the router works. Some WPS routers are push-button activated; others list a PIN.

3) Choose WPS Push Button or WPS Pin Entry, depending on the router.

If you choose the WPS Push Button, then push the button on the router labeled with the WPS icon, shown in the margin.

If you chose the WPS Pin Entry, type the PIN shown on the phone’s screen into the router.

Connection with the router may take a few minutes, so be patient. The good news is that, like all Wi-Fi networks, after the initial connection is established, the phone automatically connects in the future.

Setting a metered Wi-Fi connection :

A metered Wi-Fi connection is one you pay for, either per minute or per megabyte or gigabyte of transferred data. Similar to the mobile data connection, when the phone accesses a metered Wi-Fi connection, you want to ensure that you don’t exceed your data quota. To help you:

1) Open the Settings app.

2) Choose Data Usage.

This item is located in the Wireless & Networks area, or on the Connection tab on certain Samsung phones.

3) Tap the Action Overflow icon or MORE button.

4) Choose Network restrictions.

This action might be titled Restrict Networks.

5) By a listed Wi-Fi connection, set the master control to the On position.

Memorized Wi-Fi connections appear in the list,

When the Master Control icon is on (activated), the phone restricts data access over the Wi-Fi network. You will be warned whenever a large download or upload is attempted.

Happily, not many Wi-Fi networks require payment to access. If one does, set up the network as described in this chapter, and then follow the steps in this section to apply the metered restriction.
